  • Check out some unusual appearances on your computer
  • Find out if there's a third party remote monitoring software
  • Check for open ports
  • So you can check all the open ports by going Start, Control Panel, Windows Firewall, Exceptions
  • Open the Windows Task Manager and unfold the Processes tab, make sure there is no processes working under a different name

If you are talking about MS RDP then from Task Manager you can see this, but if you are talking about third party tools like VNc or tewam viewer, refer to these links they should help you:

As far as I know. . . Nowasdays accessing a remote computer unnoticed is very easy as the tools and techniques have become more sophisticated. As like Peter Paquing Said, You can check for some unusual activities in your system and can Check the task manager. If you don't know about which task is for what then simply skip it. My practical opinion about this is just watch the network flow. For example if you are using a data card, then check thhe connecivity. If you are not browsing, within sometime the downlink will come below5 kb and mostly remains at0 or1 kb. If you see hike in the downlink for some seconds even if you are not using it then disconnect the network all at once. Clear all the cache and temp files by using best softwares like CCleaner. And then you can use the net
