First things is human safety & then component safety, for Human safety manage things to avoid Electrical shock & for component Safety take care of right connections. For an OP AMP you must take care of correct biasing & its offset voltage and right phase used in circuit.

Always Consider that the voltages at in input of op-amp are always equal or the difference of voltages at the input of Op-Amp is always equal to zero i.e +Vi = -Vi
