I add this to come of my CV's too. A well-travelled person in general is someone who has previously been to different countries (or cities if we are dealing with big country like the US). Applicants may add this to their CV to convey a couple of things:

I think "well traveled" depicts that the person has no issue to go on business trips (as much as the company needs) and has enough experience of boarding & lodging in the required travelling area.
He mostly refers to his level of exposure to the world and his willingness to travel as and when required

It is to give an insight about your flexibility and willingness to travel.However I will rather like to put like this
Willingness to travel Means a percentage of time in a month you would like to entail in travelling like20% etc.
It referes to intense experience of business tours, as some of the jobs required frequently travelling.
It means he/she has experience in dealing with travel. Any task needs know-how to do it.
it is no indicates that the candidate has no problem with dealing in new areas and cultures or he has an experience in traveling to other countries
