For the same load which is the best choice, AC or DC motors? Let's take single phase (230V, 50/60 Hz) for AC, not 3Ph! Thanks fellas!

it depend on the load for example with high intial tourque and un balanced mechanical resistive load you will go for the Dc motor or for the standrad load you will choose the AC motor (the speed in both is variable possible .

The problem with AC was the the speed control  With the new control revolution AC still better all the Way

In the circumstances, if we see both motors, then I will prefer DC motor, but it will need bridge, this is the thing to convert AC to DC, otherwise most of the people use AC motors, but for higher speed and torque, Mr. Sohail Zaman is right. DC is best, in normal circumstances, we use AC motors.

If the requirement involves high starting torque, use DC Series motor. For normal starting torque ratings use an Induction motor.
