Your leader is some kind of a strict and straightforward person does it felt you shy, afraid to ask, or you only showing to him that you are keen to details of your new task or projects?
i don't think it is necessary to be scared of anybody. the common objective of every team is to acheive the common set goal. team means consultation, working together and proper participation. which includes every body playing a role to enhance success, there is no need of being scared of any team leader.
Asking questions is not a problem, the only reason of my hesitance can be hierarchy issues that relates to respect of reporting lines. Going directly to someone higher in authority than your current boss or during his absence an appointed in charge. However, if its a matter of urgency I believe that its a must to ask.
When your questions are genuine, the fear factor becomes cease to exist. Its better to clear yourself from the Leader to avoid later disappointments.
Instead of making mistakes i prefer to ask questions. Because those questions are going to lead me complete my task successfully. I personally never hesitate to ask questions. Maybe these questions will show the project needs a different view or a review.
with no doubt there is no issue with asking billion question to the direct manager, however the most important thing; the question shall not be repated twice!
If you are reporting to a true leader , you should not worry to ask questions as that is part of team spirit and healthy culture in work enviroment .
I wouldn't be afraid to ask my leader questions. I feel by asking questions I can benefit and better myself and a situation therefore i get a better outcome. I also feel that if you don't ask, you will never know and can never progress. it shows enthusiasm and confidence and that you value your job.
Sometimes you will have go through tough Bosses but it does not mean shying away from hard Questions since it'll directly effect your performance and work ethics.I do not shy away from such situations and mostly get appreciated for dedication toward work.

If you dont ask questions, then you are not interested to learn and improve. It is not the quantity of questions being asked to your team leader, its the quality and the relevance. As long as the questions will help in improving your outcome and relevant to your work then go for it. I personally ask to know details of everything i work in, it makes me provide better and more confident at what i do.
A good team leader is one that's has a good listening skills. Able to motivate his colleague, respected by his colleagues in such a manner that makes his colleagues feel been inclusive.I can approach the leader not neccesarily to ask questions, but make my contribution as part of the team.
