ERP is for Enterprise Resource Planning. ERP software is a suite of business applications such as accounting, sales or payroll. It is a business process management tool which deals with the basic internal processes of a company by using various modules.

SAP stands for Systems, Applications and Products in data processing. SAP is a very large software company in the world. It provides solution for financials, manufacturing logistics, distributions, etc. SAP is a product by the company SAP AG It is an integrated system in which all the SAP modules share information. Transactions in this system are carried out automatically based on the defined processes. SAP is one of the world's largest software vendors of ERP systems.

Hello From Sandeep Sharda

Meaning

SAP is system application software, founded in1972 under the German name.It is having its own front end -can be trailored to the requirement of sector specfic requirement as well as sub group - functions of a sector. It is having a three main layers namely

 Logistics mgt

Human resource mgt

Finance mgt.

Under which it has several sub menu ,which provide application to sub functions of an organisations.

Objective : Integration of

systems, Documentation, people and information.

Eg : A Purchase Requision made in Purchase menu can be viewed by stores dept while reciving the materials by clicking a Purchase order no. and it will display the editable cells as well as readable cells, similarly, while paymnet for invoice for the same PO can be opened by finace dept by PO no as primary no and all details will be available to them . It is no need to create a seperate documents. hence integrating the information ,system , people and documentation.

ERP

ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) is not a proprietory softare ,it is a nomenclature for any enterprise who wants to organize its integration by having a software who provides integration for

Systems , people, documentation and information. Apart from it it is a software who can organze well in resouce management for the organisation levels as well as functional authorities. This also provide an insight with tailor made information of assests management as seperate window inbuilt in the functional software.

Benefits :

Tailor made for subfunctions as not possible in SAP ( sould opt for first layer onwords)

Cost economics

Less terminogy for use

Personal computes with level of information can be opted

Flexible in applications where a specific application is required. Eg.  A petrochemical organizations want to upload the spareparts interchangeabilty can be recored by excel sheet attached with a trailormade soft\\ware and then uploaded to central SAP menu with a  common feature if required.

Eg. A excercise on RAMIS  ( Resouce assest management information system ) software ERP package was carried out by me and team in on of the SABIC plant as independent spareparts procurement and interchangeability record and then it is uploaded to the main SABIC SSL service software with backend as SAP .

Sandeep
