What is the difference between Quality Assurance and Quality Control while considering the Engineering & Construction Industry?

Quality Assurance is the process of defining how a work will be done  to achieve the desired quality and standard. This is done by defining a set of standards like Method Statements and Inspection and Test Plans.

Quality Control is checking that the work done is as per defined set of standards. This is done by Inspections.

QA refer as “prevention”  aims to target the process to used mange and deliver the solution. It may conduct by manager or customer or third party.

QC refer as “inspection” to verify the that deliverables are acceptable quality , to meet completeness and correctness criteria according the Q plan acceptance by the executor and client.

The terms “quality assurance” and “quality control” are often used interchangeably to refer to ways of ensuring the quality of a service or product. The terms, however, have different meanings.
