If you need to publish book or printing material like manuals, multipages brochures etc then best option is Indesign.

If you need photo editing use photoshop

and if you need graphics in vector format then use illustrator.

To create an amazing art work the combination of illustrator and photoshop works perfect in99.9%.

In my experience, the software is just a tool. It's like asking what makes a better drawing, pencil or charcoal?

In my opinion, yes you definitely need to consider what medium your artwork needs to be in, print or digital for instance, but at the end of the day everything boils down to the artist's ability to be creative regardless of what tools are involved.

And usually a mixture of tools are used to create any final works, so my advice is always to learn the principles of art/colour/design/animation/etc. because relying on tools is not a good idea. They change, and being flexible is always better.

Tricky one! It can never be a one sided affair. Depends on the nature of assignment.

  • Photoshop put you in ease when photo-editing, showcasing realistic renders for Branding collaterals, fine art etc.
  • Illustrator put you in ease creating logos, branding collaterals, cartoon-semi to realistic illustrations, web interface design & other vector symbols.
  • Indesign is a salvation when it comes to designing marketing collaterals like brochures, books, simple websites, outdoor advertising materials as it allows you to work in3 modes - Text, Low Pixel & High Performance.

Together, they form the "Trinity" of Design Lovers! Cheers!
