If you need to publish book or printing material like manuals, multipages brochures etc then best option is Indesign.
If you need photo editing use photoshop
and if you need graphics in vector format then use illustrator.
To create an amazing art work the combination of illustrator and photoshop works perfect in99.9%.
In my opinion ... Photoshop use the best that you can start it in the artwork and thus easier to use
In my experience, the software is just a tool. It's like asking what makes a better drawing, pencil or charcoal?
In my opinion, yes you definitely need to consider what medium your artwork needs to be in, print or digital for instance, but at the end of the day everything boils down to the artist's ability to be creative regardless of what tools are involved.
And usually a mixture of tools are used to create any final works, so my advice is always to learn the principles of art/colour/design/animation/etc. because relying on tools is not a good idea. They change, and being flexible is always better.
If I want to make a Magzine or Newspaper page Its better to use Indesign, but some where Designers Use Corel Draw too,
In Digital Printng We Can Use Illustrator & Corel Draw, Illustrator also uses For Web Development & Other Illustrations Like LOGOs Etc.....
& Finaly Photoshop's top work is to Edit photos To Illustrate Photos, In my Expirience Photoshop is90% must for any type Of designing
If this artwork is a magazine so you should use InDesign.
If this artwork is a logo so you should use Illustrator.
If this artwork is a digital painting so you should use Photoshop.
I think the best software that is to be used is Photoshop. It provides a simple and common commands for different projects.
Tricky one! It can never be a one sided affair. Depends on the nature of assignment.
Together, they form the "Trinity" of Design Lovers! Cheers!
