Thank you for addressing your question to me. In my opinion, any product or extension of existing product range or a new SKU is developed to fill the need of the market. As long it meets the need of the customers I would say risks are minimum, many companies go overboard in adding lot of features to the new SKU after getting good success on existing range, in that case you are positioning your product as want for the market, you surely stand a risk of high/slow/no acceptance.
Therefore in my opinion stick tothe parameters obtained through research and experience and position new SKU as the need of the customers, very particularly do not make very high variations on the price points. My experience is that desired results are obtained with this strategy.
