Set the rules. Make everyone aware that there is no other option than complying to them. Be the first to respect your own rules.  Make people understand the necessity of the specific rules you have set, and the risks involved by not having them. Prepare current activities, making sure everybody understood what to do, how to do, and what to avoid. Be in front of your "troops", not above them. Do not hesitate to consult your colleagues, asking not only for their opinion, but also for their reasoning. Once you have made a decision, stick to it, unless, different conditions are appearing. If you change it, explain the reason to those involved. People need to thrust you, and thrust can be breached only once. Tell people where are you heading and why you have chosen that particular direction. be opened to any question on the matter.

These are only several ideas, not necessarily the most essential ones. But they are important.

I never want to be a manager and give orders and make my employees feel like they are slaves to my power. I want to be a leader. This question is for weak people who have no vision when they are looking for only the position. In other words, being a manager means that you have no ambition.

One of the quality should be great listener

To be a great manager, follow this simple rule. " HIRE DON'T FIRE". Don't let a team down at times of distress. Recognize the proactive measures done by fellow mates and never take it to the management as done by you.
