What Is Emotional Intelligence? Emotional intelligence (EI) is the ability to understand and manage your own emotions, and those of the people around you. People with a high degree of emotional intelligence know what they're feeling, what their emotions mean, and how these emotions can affect other people. For leaders, having emotional intelligence is essential for success. After all, who is more likely to succeed – a leader who shouts at his team when he's under stress, or a leader who stay in control, and calmly assesses the situation? According to Daniel Goleman, an American psychologist who helped to popularize EI, there are five main elements of emotional intelligence:1. Self-awareness.2. Self-regulation.3. Motivation.4. Leadership is the process of influencing others to accomplish the mission by providing purpose, direction and motivation.
Emotional intelligence for me is about the traits that leader should possess: Assertiveness, Bearing, Confidence, Coolness under stress, Courage, Creativity, Decisiveness, Defendability, Emphathy or Compassion, Endurance, Enthusiasm, Flexibility, Humility, Initiative, Integrity, Judgment, Justice, Knowledge, Loyalty, Maturity, Self Discipline, Self-Improvement, Sense of Humor, Tact, Unselfishness and will.
It is a poweful management tool & deals with the adpapting to the the varied condititions in the work environment .
It comprise of knowing,understanding,responding to emotions,overcoming momentry stress,knowing how your actions impact others etc..Self control ,self awareness , empathy,relationship & effective communication are needed for that.
We all need to understand this for our better lifie.

Emotional intelligence for me is about the following:There are various styles of leadership, and as a leader I have a choice depending on the situation as to which leadership style I choose.
The style I am a ware of are:

Bureaucratic
Democratic
Laisssez-faire
Servant
Transfromational
Transactional
Inspirational/charismatic
With all this though there are some ethics and integrity issues that a leader must have to get him/her into the game. My belief is they are the following:
Worki is as natural as play
Self control in acheiving your goals
Encourage creativity
Motivation
Allow people to be self directed and creative
I firmly believe that people want to grow and feel appreciated, let that shine through!
Matured thinking with added experience and interest to achieve target brings emotional intelligence in a person. A good leader knows himself and can understand the feelings of team members. He can make the team members actionable with his emotional intelligence (Emotional intellegence - the product of Matured thinking with added experiance and interest to achieve target)
