There is a red flags in .

if he work in large no. Of companys  with short working period related to experience. 

Also. If he work for many years in the same position with out upgrade. 

Beside all point in Saiful Hiron answer.

Consistent big gaps between jobs.

The list could go on and on and on ... it really depends on how deep and how thorough you want to go .. from the obvious and silly mistakes in language, spelling, punctuation, miscalculation of dates and times, ..  all the way to conflicts and contradictions in the actual content of the resume ...  including uneplainable employment gaps, overlapping dates, questionable credentials and references ,... etc
