It is required to be always friendly with the customer; being friendly means showing them all the professional care in order to acquire long term win-win relationship with them.
More friendliness is always trouble, keep the friendliness always under the right levels, feeling uncomfortable under over friendliness is an other issue, especially when they know its fake.

Being friendly is good for customer vendor relationship. But more friendly, I don’t think so. Sometimes the friendly relations with the customer causes to make compromises on business.
Being friendly ,I think that will increase understanding with the customer , It will help us to know more about our product in the market , It can helpful in the Development of the product. It can helpful in many ways of the product .
But there should be line of crossing about the friendship with the customer..
It is good but there should be a limit which you both should be happier and sincere to your products and to your company.Friendship has many more meanings which may cause your default in selling... Keep in mind
customer means.... benefit and salesperson means sale.
There is no harm in being friendly with your customer. Rather it's beneficial as the customer will be more comfortable and will open up more to answer to your questions.
