What are the differences between the N95 mask and surgical face mask?

The differeence is in the porosity of the two. The pores in N95 are narrower than that of the surgical mask allowing less bacteria to pass. However both of them can not prevent the passage of viral particles.

The N95 mask is usually used to prevent medical practitioners or contacvts from contracting infection or patients from spreading highly infectious diseases spreded  through droplets.
