The best way to study PMBOK and try to co relate it with your organization, How it works and also making notice of the improvements. That is the key thing required to clear the PMP. Also Lots of forms and templets are available on PMI.ORG for referance and to make sure that the standard practice is utilized. Hope it works :) 

First: you should have at least3 years of experience in either all Project management phases or any one or more of the five phases of PM.

Second: Attend for the PMP training at a reputable or authorized training center

Third: study your material by reading and understanding the book, you have to read it as a project manager not as a student (hint)

Fourth: take the exam.

PMP is a certificate issued from PMI and it is given for the certified professional project managers (all fields), for associate people in PM they can start with CAPM certificate.
