As a Marketing and Sales Head
To understand the differences between selling and marketing ,we have to look into two major deffnitions.one is called, the concept of selling always focuses the need of the buyers through sales promotions.and simlarly, second is calles, the concept of Marketing always focuses the need of buyers through customer's satisfactions.
Hmm, let's have a scenario. Suppose I want to get customers to buy my computer. If I go out and tell my friends that i am selling something, that is Marketing. Now that they know it, my friend wants my computer in exchange for money, that is Selling. If my friend wants to swap it with another item of the same value, that is Trading. Now that my friend bought my computer, he wants me to deliver it in his house and assemble it for him, that is Service.
To simplify the below answers , Sales is the process which comes within the Marketing process where the product or service is delivered to the client or customer. Marketing is not only a pre-sale process to find a new market or client but a never ending process even after the sales is done. Because retaining customer relation and reminding the existing user about the product / service is important to grow the business. Marketing includes Market analysis, channels, pricing, Budgeting with a balanced strategies. Service is a topic to be discussed separately and not in a comparison of Sales and Marketing.
