Marketing as a concept and approach is much wider than selling and is also dynamic as the focus is on the customer rather than the product.
While selling revolves around the needs and interest of the manufacturer or marketer, marketing revolves around that of consumer.
It is the whole process of meeting and satisfying the needs of the consumer.
Marketing consists of all those activities that are associated with product planning, pricing, promoting and distributing the product or service.
The task commences with identifying consumer needs and does not end till feedback on consumer satisfaction from the consumption of the product is received.
It is a long chain of activity, which comprises production, packing, promotion, pricing, distribution and then the selling.
Consumer needs become the guiding force behind all these activities.
Profits are not ignored but they are built up on a long run basis.
Mind share is more important than market share in Marketing.
A truly marketing minded firm tries to create value satisfying goods and services which the consumers will want to buy.
What it offers for sale is determined not by the seller but by the buyers.
The seller takes his cues from the buyer and the product becomes the consequence of the marketing effort, not vice versa.
Selling merely concerns itself with the tricks and techniques of getting the customers to exchange their cash for the company’s products, it does not bother about the value satisfaction that the exchange is all about.
On the contrary, marketing views the entire business as consisting of a tightly integrated effort to discover, create, arouse and satisfy customer needs’.
To sum up, Marketing is a function consisting of a series of activities that start much before the product or service is created and continues much after the product or service is sold till customer feedback is received on design and performance.
Selling is part of the overall marketing equation.
Peter Drucker, the father of business consulting, is of the opinion that Innovation and Marketing are the only functions of an organization that produce results and on which the organization survives.
all the rest are costs Service Service to customers is one of the most essential part of an organizations effort to create a satisfied customer base.
Loyal and continued patronage of satisfied customers bring the desired revenues to the organization.

In very simple i would say that Marketing is a process or you can say that it is the first step to enter a Market..
This process can be defined as " Marketing is the process of Identifying, Anticipating and Satisfying customer’s needs and wants profitably” so this definition has three major steps, the last step where it says ‘Satisfying Customer needs’ and wants can be achieved if you fulfill first two criterion i.e When you ‘identify’ the right suitable Market, the demand within that market & the right people who use the product/service or willing to buy the particular product/service.
‘Anticipating’ customer needs and wants also come from marketing department, sometimes you anticipate customer needs and wants which even the customer didn’t think that they will be offered by such a product or service, the best example is innovation in technology i.e the Apple’s Iphone entry into the market where customers never thought about a mobile phone which will be having features like the new smart-phones are having, this was done by anticipating the market.
These two steps will hopefully Satisfy the customer needs and wants, but if you want to satisfy the customer needs and wants PROFITABLY (as according to the definition), you have to sell the product or service, selling more and more will maximize your profit.
So Selling is a part of Marketing activities….
You can sell by many methods i.e.
personal selling (door to door), through distributers, online selling and many more ways to sell…..
Service can be defined as any Intangible item brought into the market for selling purpose, i.e Law firms, Transport services, airlines, hotels, consultancies, ticket reservations, and many more … I am hopeful that this will be helpful Siraj Uddin Khan

Marketing means to make profitable relationship with customers to find their needs and wants, When you know so make the product of their demand and sell it to customers, and after selling if you want to maintain the customers for long time then you need to give them after sale services which include maintenance or repair of equipment by its manufacturer or supplier, during and after a warranty period.

Hmm, let's have a scenario. Suppose I want to get customers to buy my computer. If I go out and tell my friends that i am selling something, that is Marketing. Now that they know it, my friend wants my computer in exchange for money, that is Selling. If my friend wants to swap it with another item of the same value, that is Trading. Now that my friend bought my computer, he wants me to deliver it in his house and assemble it for him, that is Service.

To simplify the below answers , Sales is the process which comes within the Marketing process where the product or service is delivered to the client or customer. Marketing is not only a pre-sale process to find a new market or client but a never ending process even after the sales is done. Because retaining customer relation and reminding the existing user about the product / service is important to grow the business. Marketing includes Market analysis, channels, pricing, Budgeting with a balanced strategies. Service is a topic to be discussed separately and not in a comparison of Sales and Marketing.
