Depends upon what your content marketing is about.

Is it for creating brand awarness?

Is it for traffic acuqistion?

Is it for email capturing?

Is it for engaging your customer?

Is it for converting potential leads to sales?

Promoting a certain product?

Determining the behavior of your target audience?

In my opinion, in general the most important metrics to look out for are:

  • Site Traffic
  • Mobile Traffic
  • Sources of Traffic
  • CTR
  • CPC
  • CVR
  • CPL
  • Bounce Rate
  • Average page views per visit
  • Average Time on site
  • Average cost per page view
  • Return Visitors
  • And finally ROI and Cost of acquiring a customer.

There are many metrics to look out for but It all boils down to what you are aiming for in the end.
