Contrary to popular belief a good sales person does not have to have the "gift of the gab"  it is more important to be a great listener and to show interest in the customer.  At the same time do not overwhelm the customer but give them the space to explore and always be polite and smile.   Your dress is very important too because the first7 seconds a customer observes you is based on visual perception, thereafter the next15 seconds is when you open you mouth and say what is regarded as your USP (unique selling proposition)
