False, The sole purpose of job description is to clearly defined duties and responsibilities of a role.

JD's brief much about the job and it contains the points which individual needs to perform at job but it has been experienced that most of the time employees are performing some other job also. Here, the important thing is that sometime employees tend to perform only the jobs which covered in JDs and heads are expecting a bit more of it. Recently, as OD assignment, we are reviewing the employees actual work and found around10-15% change in role.

Once a job description is prepared, it can serve a basis for interviewing candidates, orienting a new employee and finally in the evaluation of job performance. Using job descriptions is part of good management.

On the employee contract, they will give you the job duties that you will be doing, but once you are on the job, you will experience doing things that is not included in the written job duties that was provided to you, and it will happen from time to time. This is realistically speaking. So in most cases, you will see there on the job description an item that will say "Your duties may be extended or reduced based on the company needs"
