I agree with Ivan, Here are few of my points:

Wordpress: Easier, wide range of tutorials available, great forum supports, thousands of free plugins available and have vast range of variations and options available to get your website developed.

In wordpress there are number of issues like, security, website speed, and on going website maintenacen and updation etc.

Joomla: One of the best platform in the web development industry, Was previously at the number1 poisiont before wordpress. Its powerful, secure and also have wide range of options availables.

The issues with Joomla are, when we update the core files, we need to update all the themes, and modules else there is a wide range of compatibility issues.

So a bit tough to maintain.

Drupal: Never used it, so do not have much idea about it.

Wordpress:

Wordpress is the most popular CMS available in web and according to my experiene, it is the easiest system to implement, manage and mintain for a content oriented, or publishing website. The advantages of wordpress are:

  • Opensource and Free.
  • Big community which support and engage in CMS related discussions, which helps you to find solutions to almost all problems related to the CMS.
  • 33k+ plugins and most of them are free of cost.
  • Easy content management interface.
  • Less time to develop a website.
  • Easy to scaleup the features with installing free plugins.

The disadvantages I experince with wordpress are:

  • User role or ACL systems not present by default.
  • High probability to secutrity breach or attack.
  • No caching feature by default.
  • Technically, plugins are trigerred by actions, ie. all plugins has to register and run for all requests.

Wordpress is the best option for content and media release websites. It is easy and quick to implement.

Joomla:

I worked in Joomla versions1.2,1.5 and1.7. I managed to develop CMS systems as well as CRM systems. The framework is more organized and extensions are also classifications.

Advantages:

  • Easy to use CMS system.
  • Good number of extensions available to scaleup the features.
  • Advanced configuration options available.
  • More buildin features compared to other two systems.
  • Like wordpress, even a non technical person can install and implement a website with Joomla.
  • Supports MVC architecture for component development.
  • Group and ACL management.

Disadvantaes:

  • Complex framework compared to other for development.
  • Less flexibility.
  • More effort needed for implementing custom features.

Drupal:

I worked comparitively less on drupal. But the drupal is a CMS developed for developers.

Advantages:

  • Flexibility.
  • Easy to develop modules.
  • Better multisite support.
  • Huge community and modules.

Disadvantages:

  • Less features with the default systems.
  • CMS interface - not so easy.
  • Comparitively large learning curve.

Three of the system are great on their categories and their use classifications are:

Wordpress: for blogging / press release / content media manage

Joomla: for content with complex structure / big media showcase / multiuser and multigroup system

Drupal: Enterprice CMS / ECommerce / Complex Custom Systems
