I don't and I hate this word! I think people who use it a lot has negative attiude.
These words are hardly being used these days as the concept of allowing and giving space to others to speak prevails.
As less as I can. Profet Mohammad (s) avoided this question to ask his servant, said his servant and follower Hazrat Anas (r).
For me What if means day dreaming, if we will think what if we will not able to work properly.
Dear Ehab,
This is a generalized open ended question, if you are a bit specific you would drive great value.
Well, now your question it depends on particular individual, his position, his domain, his attitude, and daily chore at work.
For instance its obvious a Team leader / Manager would ask "What-If" a lot more than a knowledge worker...
Regards,
SAAA.
In business, this question is part of the planning, but should be used in a positive way in order to be prepared to take alternative paths.
It also may have a negative effect, it may scare you from taking decisions or accepting challenges.
All of the times, at home, at work, on the road, and anywhere else. But we are generally still survive because we have built an acceptable risk strategy deals with any kind of consequences of threats and vulnerabilities.
I generally don't because I am an optimist. Sometimes, however, I entertain such thought when - and only when - I'm considering to experiment on new things, trying to discover possibilites and opportunites other than what is already given, tried, and tested.
People who frequently entertain the "what if" question is a pessimist. Most often than not, this person rarely attains anything at the end of the day because he/she is too preoccupied with skepticism.
