The most important thing in communication is not to speak, but to be clearly understood. Conversely (From the other point of view), if someone is saying something, and you feel that there is something important that is being left unsaid, tell the person that! Say,"I think you aren't telling me something", or,"I think something else is bothering you", or whatever you need to say to clearly understand what the other person is trying to say. You can try to put yourself in the other persons shoes, and try to understand what is being said from that angle, but the important thing is to try and get a clear understanding of the true situation. If you think something is not being said, mention it, do not just let it go. The part not being said could be the important part. It is the same if you are the speaker. Say the important part, even if it is difficult for you, so that you can be clearly understood.
