During a quality audit visit to a location, the auditee ignored your auditing visit and excused said: "Nobody told me that there is an audit visit today", What action should be taken by the auditor in this situation?
Audits are always conducted upon having Written consent from the Auditee and the probability of such a situation arising is almost none at all. Nevertheless, if it was a mistake on my side to communicate the plan properly, I will apologize and will re schedule the audit to another date. If it is a behavioral issue with the Auditee to avoid being audited, then this will be escalated and reported both to the auditor and auditee functional heads for better evaluation of such a situation and then decide on course of action forward.
In almost all the cases, the audit will be planned and conducted with a prior schedule and program. This program shall be accepted by the auditee in writing. So that, this kind of situation may not raise. However, if this is the situation, I will contact the auditee and auditor organization heads, who are responsible for audits, to understand the situation and to determine further course of action.
Safety measures and records are need to be maintained daily basis by the HSE focal point. If maintained those records properly there is no issue with any kind of HSE surveillance audit.
If the team is not interested to assist the safety audit, there will be a chance of manipulating the safety records.
As an Auditor, you leave that Auditee Function & it shall be report in Audit Report as well. Also in such case, if company is certified for audited Managment system then, in Certificate, the scope of such function shall be excluded.
