In telecom world it is measured by sum of down link and up link data for that measurement period.

Generally measured at per second basis.

Throughput means the amount of data that can be transmitted over a link per second e.g. GPRS throughput maybe100kbps whereas LTE may have a throughput of several megabits per seocnd.

Lorsqu'il est utilisé dans le cadre des réseaux de communication, tels que l'ethernet ou la radio en mode paquet, le throughput du réseau est le taux de transmission du message de succès sur un canal de communication. Les données de ces messages peuvent être livrées sur un lien physique ou logique, ou bien à travers un certain nœud de réseau.

Il est généralement mesuré en bits par seconde (bit / s ou bps), et parfois par le nombre de paquets de données par seconde (P / S ou pps) ou paquets de données par intervalle de temps.
