Some companies call it Sales Manager, others Sales Dirctor. There are even companies who have both: A Sales Director above the Sales Manager? What is the theory behind this?

SALES DIRECTOR IS THE MAN WHO DESIGN & APPROVE ALL THE SALES STRATEGIES , , , WHO HAS ALL THE AUTHORITY REGARDING SALES PROCESS =========== SALES MANAGER IS THE PERSON WHO CARRY OUT THE STRATEGIES AND IMPLEMENT IN HIS SPECIFIED TERRITORY.
Sales Manager
~ Responsible for execution, implementation, monitoring, and controlling of sales strategy
~ A region is assigned to sales manager
~ Responsible for training and development of employees
~ Responsible to achieve sales quotas for the region
~ Upward and down ward communication
Sales Director
~ Responsible for sales strategy, decision making and strategic management of marketing teams
~ Responsible for downward communication
~ Manages for training and development of new sales region
~ Manages sales managers
~Responsible for sales of all regions under supervision
Sale Director is More concentrated for Policy Decisions and Control Where as Sales Manager is more concentrated on Implementation and Marketing. One is Regulatory and other for Implementation.
Agree with the answer of: Mr. Zafar abbas minhas.
Sales Director --> instructions to
Sales Managers --> instructions to
Sales employee
In simple words Sales Director comes in at the final stage for closing the deal along with sales manager
I didn't know about this
Thanks for sharing information
There is no difference between them have the same meaning and the tasks
Sales Manager– Not to be cute, but a Manager does just that… they manage. They manage people, they manage metrics, and they manage processes.
Sales Director – A Director has the skills and experience to not only execute, but to also identify issues and course correct. They take the overall goals and rough plan delivered by the executive team and drive results.
Thanks for a such important question. Both of them at the same trak of the selling Department but there are some differnces in the Duties and responsibilities as :
1- Sales Director is considered as a head of the selling process in the Planning , Controlling & Managing. Sales Manager is responsible for the Sales activities as processing and in touch with customers directly.
2- Sales Director is responsible for the new selling strategies and their applications and change them as per the market trends. Sales Manager participates and assisst the Director in this direction and try to find the best methods in the application as per the customer requirements and needs
3- Sales Manager has to adopt the director plans to develop and enhance the selling process and approach the customers daily to know any new Products and Systems required to keep the Sales Director informed to take the relevant action accordingly
Sales managers are reported to sales Director, sales director is responsible of more planning and controlling issues in sales department and strategic issues as well.
Sales manager is responsible in sales tactical daily issues, provide sales director with periodical sales report, assist in decision making, involved in making proposals for strategic issues and assist in planning / controlling as well.
