The dialogue in a story could be either based on a true-to-life story or just created by the author.  While a dialogue in a real-life story could not be based on a fictional story.  It is a real-life conversation; unless the speaker is hallucinating or pretending to be in a fictional scenario.

The dialogue in a drama, story can be managed by the author who is its sole creator and s/he can tweak it the way he wants. A dialogue in real life is a two way conversation in which it is two persons who are independent and whose conversation can neither be controlled nor predicted.
