I think the answer will be not yes or no. Also, it should not be can or can't. But not being aware about the business milestones (Mission, vision, values, objectives) will hinder the effective marketing and sales efforts. Yes, some small sales might succeed, but those big opportunities will not since they depend on how aware about your business and what kind of information you can provide.
Also, if sales are expected to bring other future sales, then the salesman will not be able to deliver those future coming sales those might be in the R&D of the business for future release.
