Software is faster, easy , comfortable to use but limited to solve unusual structural problem. software upto some extent also dependable. Manual calculations will give you satisfaction as well as you can solve all the critical problem can be happen but time consuming... for special case should have done by hand calculations....
Always keep an eye on the possible sways and deflections for the structure,
and once gathered the tension sides then using software for steel calculation would be faster if you have a lot of elements to analyze
More than this ,Try to use more than one software to check your steel reinforcement
In my opinion, for simple straight-forward calculation, computer is clearly preferred. However, it must be noted that computers do not have the intelligence that humans are bestowed by Allah. It can only compute and at best it can only be as good as the person using it. It does not have the intuition or gut feeling of an experienced expert.
However, a skilled software user would be more productive than a expert doing manual calculation.
manual always more reiable
Software is necessary for getting some idea.
In my opinion software is the best option because human error can arise in manuall calculation. and software can do perfect reading. even calculator we commonly use has also a build in Software
In my final year project , i have designed manually a flat slab, using the Equivalent Frame Method, then i compare the results with that given by SAFE, i got almost the same results
we cannot trust manual calculation for steel reinforcement
Software Calculation, because manual you don,t calculate bid data
Calculate data on software and check manually by using excel sheets to insure that software calibration is ok.
