using: Photoshop save for web: you can control # of colors from JPG, GIF and PNG format
Hi,
There is a option in Photoshop while reducing the size of50% image.Go to image panel and view image size and u will get the Image Size dialog box.And reduced the size according to your requirement and select the option=> Bicubic Sharper (Best for Reduction)
Use crop Tool or save as Web.
reducing its size using photoshop by keeping up with the ratio will not reduce the quality
You can change the extension, if it's png try the jpg it'll reduce the size of the img
Make pictures smaller by saving the aspect ratio. so you never lose any quality.
My Dear friend
you can save for web for or
you can use control resolution
The best way even if you don't know photoshop knowledge, open image to 'PAINT' then press Ctrl = W, then give percentage50%. Then save image. You will see big deference in image size.
The Way to do it in Photoshop is By Save for Web
And the Options you can choose to reduce the file size are
Jpeg are as follows :
--- You can Reduce the quality of image
--- You can also uncheck the option for Progressive.
(Not Recommended if you want to load full image at once.)
--- Thirdly you can use online websites. The best i suggest is www.jpegmini.com
It reduces your image to an greater extent without loosing quality.
PNG are as follows :
--- Same Steps in Photoshop as in Jpeg

Reducing size of an image never reduce of quality, in fact the pixel per inch increase if the size is reduced.
