How would you consider customer:supplier relationship within a company?

Finance is for working capital management , Procurement is for purchase , Production is going to produce,Supply chain management is for custodianship & delivery of finished goods,Means every department seek its interest.Departments may receive something/deliver something to other departments.

Zeeshan,

I understand your questions is directed to relations within a company, between departments. I found an article that highlights these relationships as follows:

"Before a company attempts to build good external relationships, it must first put its own house in order. You can't really develop open communications with others if your organization is partitioned itself.

Within the friendly confines of your own four walls, manufacturing and distribution need to do more than communicate—they need to march in lockstep. Both functions need to be plugged into what's going on with sales and marketing. Sourcing and procurement can't operate independently of other supply chain functions. Senior management must include the supply chain organization in the strategic information loop, while the supply chain organization must let the C-level officers know what it can do to support strategies.

This means joint planning and joint problem solving. It means cross-functional teams with a purpose other than political correctness. It means that everyone has, if not a voice, at least a hearing in product development and discussions about stock-keeping unit (SKU) extensions.

If all that seems alarming, you're not ready to manage external relationships. They can't possibly succeed until your company is master of its own domain.”

Hope this clarifies your question.

Whether it is a manufacturing, distribution or service company, the customer supplier relationship is important since it is in the heart of company operations. A major part of the quality and price of finished products which are sold to the customers depends actually on quality and price of raw materials which are purchased from suppliers. Some companies are directly connect customer to supplier if there operations require this so that purchasing and sales departments are working closely to each other.

The customer supplier relationship in all companies is built on a win-win situation. The customer needs a product or service which a supplier can deliver. The supplier on the other hand needs to make sure that they have the capacity and ability to fulfill that need at a cost that the customer is willing to bear. Both need to get the right mix in order to ensure the development of a long term relationship which will be equally beneficial to all stakeholders. The supplier ensures the delivery of the right product at the right time and in full while the customer is responsible to ensure that payments are made on time helping the entire chain to run smoothly

Well. there might be customer:supplier relationship within a company to create value for its customer but need to establish effective customer supplier relationship within organization.

Let say , Supply Chain Management is accountable for supply towards customers , so S.C.M have to receive good quality product from Production department in order to reduce expiry(Product loss) and market claims.Relation between S.C.M & production is customer-supplier relationship within a company, where S.C.M is customer & Production is supplier within organization, so at every stage customer need good product whether that would be external or internal customer.
