Well, it depends upon the learning capacity of a student. We need to understand student's approach, how he/she learns better and adopt methodology accordingly.

You had better teach grammar deductively to let students understand it through communication or through one of the four skills or we can call them five skills these days if we add culture to them.If you teach it inductively,you will find that students are good grammatical rules but they don't know how to use it correctly or how to use it through skills.Grammar is taught as a tool not a rule.It has been noticed that students who learn English for a long time and learn grammar inductively aren't able to form a correct sentence.If you would like to teach relative pronouns for example , The lesson should be taught through a paragraph or a comprehension or a listening text.One of the lesson objectives is that students will be able to write a paragraph using relative pronouns.here students will get two benefits , they will learn how to use relative pronouns and how to develop the skill of writing using relative pronouns.you had better teach it through find mistakes technique, too.
