When you are done with editing, and have it proofread, you are now ready to have your work published.
It is always helpful to have a mentor who has already been published. S/he would be a person to tell if you have progressed to the "publishable" stage in writing. Another way is to compare your publishable writing with identical published writing. If you get a nod to go ahead, get an agent!
