Lack of sense of humour is not a disqualification for any job. Hence whether it is HR or any other job, the person can very well be successful if he is good at his work.
Who looks for humor should go to the theater and not to work !
Having this would add feathers to his communication skills, but its a personnel look out . It doesnt anyways effect the quality of work with the job responsibility being offered to him/her . My View
In my opinion I don't think that a person with lack of sense of humor would be a successful Human Resources Manager. HR Manager's position is a responsible job and he has to come across a lot of hurdles dealing with different people with typical nature. Hence sense of humor will be an added quality for HR Manager and this helps him dealing with employees in a very polite and sensible manner in solving their issues easily.
Sense of humor is not the primary skill to succeed in as a HR manager. It is one of the skill that can be additional advantage for this role, but it is not essential. So, in my opinion one can still succeed as a HR manager even if s/he lacks sense of humor.
Yes. Having a sense of humor isn't a HR job requirement. Having it would make the experience more enjoyable, but not having it isn't and should affect the Manager's focus on the job and accomplish the goal.

I Feel the HR Manager should be polite and humble , because today the successful Industries in the world if we look,Performing Employees are staying back for long term because they feel what company does for them and cares. That communication Grid is majorly handled by HR manager.
This is not a disqualification for any job.,the person must be a good at his work,innovative and smart.
It would be the same thing If you asked "can a clown be successful in his job if he know nothing about HR?"Not so related.
sense of humor is not qualification for being a HR manager, being a innovative, smart working manners etc are makes him a superior in that position. Being a serious nature or cool nature is also not a criteria
