It would definitely have to be b. Any responsible parent would want to know WHY before condoning this fairly radical action on behalf of their offspring! Chances are that it could just be a rebellious "fad", not uncommon in the teenage years but you can't afford to make assumptions so a thorough investigation is the order of the day before any decisions are made or actions taken.

I wouldn't take any of the above options.I will have to treat this issue with the urgency it deserves and that is to phone the school and be updated on the new policy. If time allows,I will have to get to school and hear it from the horse mouth.

As a parent I have the duty to explore the reasons behind such decision of young children. If there is some sort of injustice I'll prefer to talk to the school administration. Otherwise I'll advise my children not to indulge in such kind of activities which have no justification.

THANKS ISMI, THIS IS ONE GOOD QUESTION I WOULD LIKE TO ANSWER, As a parent, i'll take time to talk to my son and atleast few of his friends ,to know the exact scenerio and advice them for an alternate solution ; If the situation is totally unfair.I may ask to write or type on paper and get the signature of all students and put it in a suggession box (if they have) or hand it over to the school admin ,If the students REALLY need the justice out of that situation . ON THE OTHER HAND ,I'LL TRY TO SORT OUT BY MEETING THE TEACHERS AT SCHOOL, IF NEEDED . BUT DEFINITELY, I'LL NOT ENCOURAGE MY KID TO INDULGE IN SUCH ACTIVITIES DURING SCHOOL. I feel that,Its not the right age to make such bold decisions on their own. They surely need the guidance of elders in taking each steps . And its the duty of the parents, not to hurt them by harsh words and at the same time show them "the right path in life".

b) Asking reasons why are he and friends doing it.

As a responsibile adult definitely the right thing to do is to enquire about the problem and find out a peaceful solution to it.
