I totally agree to that. A good boss is playing for tha sake of the team not only his own. A leader leads his team towards success and encourages them to share their view points not dictate his orders to achieve what he wants

Dictating may work in the beginning but then cause destruction within the team. People don't like to be or feel oppressed and that's what dictatorship is oppression. By leading a team you are there to give them hope of a success, motivate them, cooperate to accomplish greatness together not by generating hatred because of unnecessary behaviour and an egocentric personality. In my opinion if a leader was a dictator beyond control then they are not fit to lead.

Leading is not dictating at all. A leader influences the team by vision, character and empathy. BTW sometimes you have to dictate to keep the things straight.

While dictating to a team might yield results, it does not always bring out the best in a team. A leader in a team guides and encourage each team member to use their areas of strength to achieve individual and team goals while at the same time ensuring the team is on focus. Teamwork is not only about sharing tasks but also about putting heads together to formulate brilliant ideas and way forward. A dictator will eventually kill the team spirit of each member and prevent them from giving their best once they know their contribution hardly count. A person with good leadership skills will maintain discipline among team members and will be listened to without any member feeling he/she is being dictated upon.

I think all companies are the simmilar in the sence of policies and procedures. These rules dictates the personnel and sets the minimum guidelines to maintain a sense of order and structure in a company. A leader might enforce rules and regulations but are more seen in the respect of a buffer against possible critism from other dissiplines or managers. It goes without saying that a leader must know his work, otherwise he means nothing to the team. Your team must have the courage to go to you as their leader for any assistance and or confessions. A true leader does what the word says, he leads. A leader has a team that he looks after and that team is his first priority. Show the team you care, protect your team in front of other dissiplines, listen and help with problems they might have, give assistance and grow your team, while remaining firm. A well dissplined team out performs the rest and they stick together. So a good leader can be judge by the strenght and productivity of his team. A dictator will not have a strong team as this type of attitude promotes withdrawl and negativity.
