It depends on source and translated languages you're using. It is not that difficult to translate IT documents from Mother Tongue Language into English, as most of the IT information is English-ized. However the opposite could be much more difficult depending on the amount of technical details and the in-IT level of specialization we're talking about.NOTE: In order to make the process easier the translator is always recommended to read on the topic and research certain abbreviation before starting to translate. NOTE: Getting guidance from the client is always recommended.
My biggest problem is to translate into exactly what you want it to be. In your mother tongue there are certain meanings to words. So the biggest problem is to know all the local words, technical meanings and customs. I know live in Colombia, the problem is I don't speak Spanish as I speak English, so in contract meetings I always ask to do it in English, so I can say what I want. If it is IT, engineering or contracts, the problem is the same.
