My personal opinión it's the most complete reservation system and it's easey to work with because I used to work for American Airlines and I still used it on a regular basis.

The reason for that was in the past, making airline reservations were performed manually and it proved to be tedious and time-consuming as well.
The travel agent would have to look for possible routes, fares, the country's current ROE (Rate of Exchange), etc.
All in all manually done using thick books updated every half a year.
Eventually, American Airlines (AA) developed SABRE in1960 which launched online as an experimental system but proved to be therefore successful in terms of delivering customer service with speed and accuracy with no less than2 percent of mistakes done.
Additionally, cancellation at the last minute of the booking, before the actual flight takes place, is much easier and cheaper.
This solved the problem of making reservations manually.
Phone calls and searching on the SABRE system is fast and efficient.
