Advantages:  PLC is a controller which controls/automate the industrial machinery by monitoring the field inputs and controlling field outputs based on what program running on PLC.

It eliminates more man power.

It increases productivity

It increases efficiency of the machine

Disadvantages:

Bit costlier, Working efficiency depends on environment

Human errors in program leads malfunction

PLC Advantages and Disadvantages
  • Flexibility: One single Programmable Logic Controller can easily run many machines.
  • Correcting Errors: PLC control any change in circuit design or sequence is as simple as retyping the logic. Correcting errors in PLC is extremely short and cost effective.
  • Space Efficient: Today's Programmable Logic Control memory is getting bigger and bigger this means that we can generate more and more contacts, coils, timers, sequencers, counters and so on. We can have thousands of contact timers and counters in a single PLC.
  • Low Cost
  • Testing: A Programmable Logic Control program can be tested and evaluated in a lab. The program can be tested, validated and corrected saving very valuable time.
  • Visual observation: When running a PLC program a visual operation can be seen on the screen. Hence troubleshooting a circuit is really quick, easy and simple.

Advantages...

-Troubleshooting is Easier and  Faster..

-Easy to develop Programs by offline simulation

-Less amount of Space Needed

-Less Maintenance

-Easy to Monitor Inputs and Outputs by HMI devices....and from PC's

Disadvantages.

-Cost of PLC is high

-PLC'S are designed by semiconductors, which are depends on thermal characteristics

Features PLC -1 Flexibility: where the program can be modified easily and without resorting to changing the connections both in the input or output and thus the result is a flexible system that can be used to control functions of the changing nature2 - Low Cost: where he was introducing modern techniques might reduce the cost of the PLC so that it became in many cases Laufer from traditional methods of control3 - can hold the implementation of the program before installing the PLC on the stomach Industrial4 - speed of implementation of the program5 - Protection from tampering in the program and ease of handling6 - Correction of errors and locate faults: Where can accurately locate errors and thus can be an amendment to the program so that the performance of the machine continues normally even be repaired holidays7 - small size, which leads to ease of control and put it in the right place Some disadvantages of the PLC1 - some applications the use of PLC little benefit, such as fixed applications which do not change and therefore the use of the PLC at a high cost or potential untapped2 - the introduction of modern technology accompanied by some problems as some of the techniques events in machinery and re-training some engineers to keep pace with this change and training on modern programming languages
