What type of student is attracted to/successful in Online Education?

Independent students and adult learners/ students. 

Types who are attracted to online education

• People with full-time jobs who don't have the time to attend a traditional university
• People with young children who can't afford childcare to attend a traditional university
• People with learning or physical disabilities that make traditional learning more difficult
• People who had bad experiences in high school or are hesitant to attend a traditional university for some other reason

Remember, the draw is three-fold: learning can be done in your home, at your own time and is usually cheaper than attending classes in a brick-and-mortar setting.Types who are successful at online educationI would say the types of people who are successful in online learning  are definitely organized, disciplined, self-motivated types. They are  usually social in the sense that they thrive in online discussion  forums.  Many of my best students were current or former military, if  that gives you any indication as to personality types who excel in  online learning.  Not the kind who need a lot of hand-holding, in other  words.

A continuing education adult student who has a job already and is looking to obtain a degree. It is the commute back and forth to college after a long days work that usually discourages adults from reaching higher or achieving that goal they long for. I personally took many online classes because I could not leave work early to attend the campus and it worked out just fine. I think it is a matter of convenience and how bad the adult student wants it.

He who sits at home and cannot attend classes 

Intelligent student who cares about the time or have difficulty in school
