Generally depends on the products/services you're trading.
A sales manager with a Marketing degree would be a killer combination!
In General trading company doesn't require any marketing efforts for selling their products. If the company is trying to sell the well marketed and reputed brands then there is no need of exclusive marketing team. In case the product is new and introduction is required then marketing efforts are required to create awareness among the buyers.
Answer is market specific but in most cases a multirole sales manager is more appropriate answer.
Trading companies also need to carry out marketing activities in their territory if the manufacturer has not done so.
Well the starting point here is very tributary of the company vision and objectives.
The Trading Manager justify his/her postion if simply the company has a growth vision.
That is my modest point of view.
Depends on the profile of the company. If is a trading arm of a amnaufacturing company then both are needed. If it is a sole trading one then Sales Manager is enough.
Marketing and sales are activities within organizations geared at increasing return on investment. Despite being intertwined, one important difference is the approach: Marketing must have a strategy in place which fits in with the corporate strategy and that is congruent with the financial, operations, R&D etc strategies. this would be at the strategic level and therefore overseeing a plan for securing a long-term relationship. Marketing therefore determines the nature of sales activities, which aim for matching customer demands with the products/services of the organization. most importantly, sales people need to feed back to the strategists customer satisfaction, complaints, likes and dislikes. Having said this, organizations should embark on scientific marketing research to understand what customers want and more importantly what they need.
Sir, I believe that it totally depends upon the circumstances and the situation.
for me you should have both marketing and sales personnel, this two have different role in developing a business, Marketing is the one who will study the markets, doing research, launching the campaigns, analyze competitor move, evaluating prospects while sales is the one who will taking care of this clients and increase the profit of the company by getting more business with them.
