You have your camera, you are at some event, how do you capture a cinematic moment?

it is difficult to control shutter speed-focus-iso in a quick mode !!!  usually you working on automatic mode. just in case you are planning to take a specific settings of shots: close shots.

Be prepared at all time, those moment come and go, try to take as many picture as you can, one of those will be that moment, of course you have to have a good eye and choose the right angle

just focus on the main events, The start, the peak of event and the end of event, and your camera should capture mostly every thing , the people, the tools and the infrastructure.

If you want to capture or shoot a short movie like in the movies, you must have some background knowledge of "Photography" which is the field that gives the Movie director the indications how to use light, movie scenes and cameras positions.
After this , one of the most common scene in movies is the slow zoom in, with slide left or right, like a documentary.
You just do it with your camera, little short clips with seconds....a left slide....going up...always shooting, done! really slow camera when shooting and steady.
If you want to take pictures and give a cinema look, you just go to your preferences in Camera Dslr, and put the contrast and sharpness to minimum and reduce color.
It will give a NY city look movie ;)

Concentrate on the event and choose the right angle to captivate it in the most perfect way, the little details that most people take for granted make great cinematic moments.

Well Always focus on the highlights of the event and in every highlights get10 to20 shots of it... you can't decide in one shot but get a multiple shots for it and in20 shots you have to choose3 to7 of the best shots for you. in terms of cinematic there's a lot of software editing but I recommend Lightroom for color calibration and the effects the lightroom has a bunch of presets you choose so for final retouch jump to photoshop for finalization of the image.

you must get max of details, and the meaning of the moment, try to take the maximum and good details of the scene...." you must feel the moment and let the others share your feel "

photograpic is an art and a best hobby too.
A person who has zeal to capture the greatest moment they will for sure capture it rather than waiting for moment they try to create the every moment in to the cinematicmoment

Rule #1: Just click ASAP before the moment is gone.

I would suggest if your Really after that cinematic look try 'lower' aperture lenses i.e f1.8 or f1.4 that plus Vari ND filter for Day light shots. Remember, lower you go the harder time you'll have to keep focus...So I'd keep around f5.6 - f8 when your subject is moving - with Manual Settings.

Another tip: Think about your composition before taking the picture.
