Fields status groups are being defined to display various fields for posting business transaction as appropriate documents for General Ledger Accounts.
FSG is used to control the document entry by defining fields selections and document types as suitable.

Field Status Group is manadatory in defining which fields are being displayed while postind the transactions in the general ledgers for business transactions as appropriate documents.
It controlls three parts;1.
Field status variant2.
Account Group3.
posting keys.

The SAP Field Status Groups are used to manage the the fields of so called 'required objects'.
If a Field Status Group is defined for a General Ledger master, then it's capable to manage the fields that are used while creating a transaction posting for the General Ledger master data.
The standard Field Status Groups in SAP are: G001 - General (with text, allocations) G003 - Material Consumption Accounts G004 - Cost Accounts G005 - Bank Accounts (obligatory value date) The Field Status Group manages the entry fields, to keep them suppressed, mandatory or to allow optional entry.
Field Status for GL Master is created from T code OBC4 and assigned to company code by T code OBC5.
