Firstly I'd download the program and have a little play with it. See what it can do, see what you can pick up.
I'd then either buy some Photoshop books, or search online for tutorials. Although you have to pay, I would recommend http://www.lynda.com/ as they go totally in depth and start from the beginning.
Once you're comfortable with the basics, I'd say look into styles and techniques you want to learn, and thats when you can get into the nitty gritty.
Above all, it's great to learn yourself, look into things and build your knowledge. It's not a difficult program to use at all, and with a little push you can become great. Good luck!

Step1: go online & download for free ' Adobe Photoshop CS5 Classroom in a Book pdf' or pay & buy the pdf from peachpit.com, you will also get lesson files, which you can use to practice.
Step2: buy the software or download trial version
Step3: Follow the lessons & practice with the lessons
Step4: once you are comfortable/finished all the chapters, get tutorials from internet & practice.
Ste5: you have become an expert now : ) ..if interested you can also take 'adobe certified expert' exams online. all the best.
There are online tutorials available which can give you quick tips on how to create certain images, posters etc.
Video tutorials tend to be more user friendly.
Try www.teach-ict.net/software/photoshop/photoshop.htm
If you are learning from the very beginning an introductory course may be useful.
Aim to find the courses that are as interactive as possible for you to benefit.

First you must have a book or material with practical files and try to process and execute it exactly and test every tool in a Photoshop program and use it to make amendment on the picture and make posters etc...
so try to imitate then try to create.

Well photoshop isn't easy but isn't hard. I have friends who can deal with Rhinoceros but wont deal with photoshop!!
To start just use some photos of yours, use randomly the left commands on tools. Do it slowly and watch what happens to the picture: the arrow, magic wand etc. Use some time these tools until you start to memorize their function even if you don't do it right in the start.
Start using upper commands, like going to Filters, or Image, and start applying those to the picture and see what happens: contrast, light and shadow..and so on!
After some days playing with this, try to remember what effect you saw doing somewhere and try to reply it, by just going to Youtube or Google and writing down like this: How to Crop a image on Photoshop. There is always a tutorial! If you google:200 effects photoshop, you will find the effect and the tutorial for it! good luck!
