In destructive testing the product is exposed to actual or simulated usage environments and tested to the specified limits for its suitability for intended usage and defects. However in non destructive testing the product is tested in the lab using different scientific methods like ultrasound, magnetic particles testing, dye penetration, resonance tests, Industrial CT scanning, etc.

IN Destructive testing specimen is tested under different types of loads to identify its mechanical properties example tensile test for its yield strength and tensile strength ,charpy v notch test for impact toughness  ,side bend test etc.

Destructive Tests are those tests in which we need a sample from the object or a lot and after carrying out the test, the sample undergoes physical changes; means it can break or its shape is changed and it cannot be used. Examples: Tensile Test, Impact Test, Bend Test, Rupture Test etc. Non-Destructive Tests are those which can be carried out on the constructed object or on a sample in a way that the object does not break. No physical change occurs in the object and the object / sample remains able to be used. Examples: Radiographic Test, Ultrasonic Test, Magnetic Particle Test, Penetrant Test, Eddy Current Test etc.
