I suppose this might be one of the answer to your problem. I have used NX7.5,8 and9. In all the versions you can import Soliworks part file i.e., SLDPRT without converting. Synchronous Modelling allows you that. I m not sure about NX6. But since Synchronous Modelling was introduced in NX5, you will be having option to import SLDPRT directly. I think this might help. File --> Open --> File Type --> Solidworks Part File --> Open. I m not sure entirely as i have not used NX6.

export and import files are very useful for communicating with other CAD software, UG can communicate easily with many types of files, ranging from the STP, IGES, both3D and2D DWG, DXF, Parasolid, etc. Unigraphics NX6 has a convenience, files created with Unigraphics, sometimes to be opened in Solid Works, without having to mengkonvertnya first, but the Solid Works file (sldprt) could not be opened directly, must convert it first.
