Hello Mr.
Ahmed.
Your question has a historical, an environmental and a social dimension.
Every city has its distinct element/dimension.
Sometimes the architects are inspired by the surrounding nature, that's the ENVIRONMENTAL dimension.
For example, In Egypt you have the Lotus flower which the pharaohs used in their temples, also in Lebanon you have the cedar trees, In the Gulf states you have desert and sea and sand valleys.
You also have the climatic conditions which affect the size and shape of the windows and doors.
The HISTORIC and old symbols and styles of a certain civilization or a place, are widely used because they're very distinctive.
The SOCIAL dimension sometimes represents the city's culture and the people's traditions like in the Arab and Ottoman palaces ( Slamlik for men and Haramlik for women) and The Mashrabeya windows, once you see these you know where the place is.
You have different paths for women and men even in the malls of Saudi Arabia.
You could see the difference for yourself between the Muslim Arabs' remaining houses and any other house in Spain because they were affected by the Arab social behavior and culture although the climatic and environmental treatment is different.
Define your city with it's distinct plant or historic symbol or the built social behavior to prove that this is YOU ..
" This is us"...and let others recognize it immediately or at least guess it right.

Architecture and Culture publishes explorations that are rigorously speculative, purposively imaginative, visually and verbally stimulating. From historians of culture and architecture, from geographers, anthropologists and other social scientists, from architects and urban designers, from film-makers, animators and other artists, from thinkers and writers of all kinds, established and new, it solicits essays, critical reviews, interviews, fictional narratives in both words and images, art and building projects, and design hypotheses. Architecture and Culture aims to promote a conversation between all those who are curious about what architecture might be and what it can do.

City culture can be presented by the architectural style you choose for your design, also by the material you will use in the building.

Thanks for this question, firstly, why we make an analyse about project's environment ( at level of city, and level of terrain)??, to take specifics points and elements of the architecture style of the area, to marry these elements to the architect's design and ideas, these elements we call them ( architectonic elements, typology of the area).
