According to The Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK), The Critical Path is “the sequence of scheduled activities that determines the duration of the project. Primavera P6 Critical Path Calculations.

when you do a project, CPM help you to find out the project total duration, number of day that you can delay each activity and so on. this video is worth a watch

CRITICAL PATH is the longest duration path through a network diagram and determines the shortest time to complete the project. The activities within this path have the least amount of total float, or zero total float.

 

in PRIMAVERA, check out the Gantt chart. The critical path activities are usually in RED. You can use Filter to show only the critical activities.

Click on Filter > Customize... and in the filter pop-up window, check the box of either Critical or Longest Path.

Critical path is the longest chain of activities connecting starting & end activities of project with minimum or zero  total float, any delay on critical path will delay the overall completion of project.
