Social networking and virtual worlds, while similar in many aspects, actually have

significant differences with respect to how users interact and communicate. A virtual world is an

interactive simulated environment that allows multiple users to participate simultaneously via an

online interface

Actual networking (Real social networking) is slow but it has a huge impact on relationships because of the direct face to face interaction including body language. Large groups yield better results when engaged in group activities like camping, dinner, soccer etc.

social networking (virtual/online gatherings) are very fast but lack the human connection and any interaction can be misread to be stalking, bullying. It can be misused for stalking, bullying as well as identity theft. However, it does offer a global reach which is great for brand marketing, conference broadcasting and online activism.
