What are the advantages and disadvantages of using ASP.NET ?

* ASP.NET and Visual Studio are that they are expensive

* ASP.NET applications run on IIS

* Application Architecture with lack of Separation of Concerns

* Lack of Reusability and Search Engine Optimization

I'd agree with Muhammad Nabeel on the advantages, but I'd like to add a couple of points. For advantages, you also get the support and power of a corporation like Microsoft, a huge community, and wide-spread acceptance in the market. As for the disadvantages, I disagree with those mentioned. All of those disadvantages are only relevant if you are coding using Web Forms. In recent years Microsoft has introduced two new paradigms, MVC and Web Pages. Both constitute a huge departure from Web Forms and provides developers with complete control over their HTML
