I enrolled my son into an IB high school. And guess what? Both he (14) and I had to sign a statement to the effect that we agree that he can and will be expelled from the school should he be stealing other people's work (c/ping without citing the source). School runs all students work thru an algorithm that scans the internet and reveals the c/p-ed material. That is the only way to fight plagiarizm.

I would let them know that what he or she has done is unethical and unacceptable since we want to see his  or her own work. I would let him/her know there are ways you can state what others say or comment by using references and your bibliography. I would teach them how you use the APA style to avoid plagiarism.
